Dan Gottlieb Principal
Dan is a clinical informatician and software engineer with more than two decades of experience in
software development and data engineering. He is the co-creator of the FHIR population data API
(“FHIR Bulk Data”) and continues to lead the development of this standard, collaborating with
stakeholders through Health Level Seven International (HL7) and the Argonaut FHIR Accelerator. To
date, the API has been deployed by organizations including CMS, and has been incorporated into
clinical software products from vendors including Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Microsoft and Google.
Dan has contributed to broadly adopted FHIR standards, including SMART authorization and CDS Hooks
decision support, and serves as the senior technical advisor to the SMART on FHIR Project. He has
led the design and development of healthcare apps, clinical decision support services, and
population health analytic tools for commercial and non-profit organizations including Harvard
Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital, and the New York City Department of Health.
Dan has a master’s degree in health policy from NYU.
